Guernsey Water is reporting record levels of cesspit collections following exceptionally heavy rainfall last week. 

Despite recent brighter weather, February is on track to be the wettest on record since 1978, with final figures expected to be confirmed next week. The sustained rainfall has placed significant pressure on the cesspit service, resulting in unprecedented demand. 

More than 100 metres of new water main have been laid in Mill Street, as part of the first major infrastructure project of 2026.

The digital gateway for cesspit customers – MyCesspit Portal – is now being used by a third of customers, as the online portal turns one.
Launched in December 2024, 900 of the services 5500 customers signed up within two months. Now, a year in, that number stands at 1500.
