Forest Road West Tank Reconnection

We’re coming to the end of the £1.1m. upgrade works at Forest Road West Tank.

This has been a major piece of work and we’ll bring you a full case study on this – including some amazing pictures of the inside of the tank – soon.

Today we’re bringing the tank back into service – literally reconnecting it to the network. That’s going to happen at around 2pm today [8 August] and we want to give those living in the blue shaded area on the attached map a heads up that there’s a chance you’re going to notice a slight taste and odour change to your water for the next few days.

Why? Chlorine levels are slightly higher because the tank has been filled in preparation for rejoining the network and so the concentration is marginally more than usual. It will take a few days for the levels to settle back down to the regular amount. You may notice a slight chlorine odour when having a bath or a shower and if your tap water is warm, you may taste it too.  If you fill a jug and pop it in the fridge it will dissipate and when the water is cool, you won’t be able to taste it.

Chlorine is added to water to disinfect it and we closely monitor how much it contains - the water is perfectly safe.

If you know anyone who lives in the shaded area, do please pass this along.

We’ll be back with the full rundown of the works in the coming weeks.
