St Saviour's reservoir back online
Guernsey Water has confirmed that following receipt of further test results, which have shown a fall in levels of herbicide, St Saviour's reservoir has been put back into public supply.
The utility advised that test results showed the levels of herbicides had now fallen in line with UK Drinking Water Regulations, but that increased monitoring would continue for the time being.
Margaret McGuinness, Guernsey Water's water quality risk manager said: "Incidents like this really show the importance of our ongoing testing schedules and risk management procedures. These routine tests and pre-prepared procedures are what enable us to ensure we are able to manage water quality in our reservoirs and treatment works effectively in order to continue providing safe drinking water for the Island."
St Saviour's reservoir was isolated from public supply for approximately three weeks, during this time the island's water supply continued to be maintained from alternative reservoirs.
