Guernsey Water charges rise

Logo

Guernsey Water has confirmed that water and wastewater charges are increasing in response to growing cost pressures.

This will result in an overall rise of 6.7% for the average metered customer's combined water and wastewater bill, which equates to £30 spread across the year, or under 10 pence per day.

Managing Director, Steve Langlois, said: "Like many businesses we are experiencing growing cost pressures due to factors outside of our control including Brexit, Covid and the war in Ukraine. Our energy, raw materials, labour, and transport costs have all increased. We must ensure that we have sufficient income to cover these costs and the cost of investing in the infrastructure we use to serve our customers."

"We are acutely aware that the same cost pressures are affecting our customers.  We are doing everything we can to avoid passing on these costs. Since 2019 our bills have increased by less than inflation. This means we have had to work hard to be as efficient as possible. It has also helped ensure our customers' bills remain as affordable as possible." said Mr Langlois.

Guernsey Water is encouraging any customers who are concerned about paying their water bill to contact their customer services team on 01481 229500 or customer.service@water.gg.
