Algal Bloom at St Saviour's Reservoir
Guernsey Water is looking into algal bloom at St Saviour's Reservoir after routine monitoring indicated the presence of blue-green algae.
Treatment processes remove the blue-green algae, which can be toxic to humans and animals, so there are no adverse effects on drinking water supplies.
However as a precautionary measure, notices have been posted next to the reservoir warning that contact with the algal scum should be avoided.
Those with fishing interests have been notified along with The Office of Environmental Health & Pollution Regulation and the States Veterinary Officer.
